I have to say, this is my favourite of the 1970's patchwork waistcoats. She is just so damn pretty!! This has been very carefully made by hand, it's lined inside and has the piping and tie detail to the front which paired with the gorgeous vintage prints and ivory lace, is a boho, prairie dream of a top.
The lady who made this was a highly skilled dressmaker who trained at Ealing school of art before working for Boba, Bus Stop and Zandra Rhodes. She is a fascinating lady with exceptional taste in clothes! This is a real piece of 70's fashion history, and is an absolute steal!
This looks lovely on it's own with 70's denim, or over prairie tops and shirts.
Measured flat and fastened:
Pit to pit - 32-34"
Length - 16"
No stretch in the fabric, but due to the nature of the tie front, could be worn by a size -.6-10
Vintage condition - Excellent.
